1st Birthday Party

We decided to celebrate Ava's birthday a little early with a few friends and family at Chuck E. Cheese. Now you might be thinking that Chuck E. Cheese is a bit much for a 1-year old, but Ava had the best time! We took her there about a month ago to check things out and see how she'd react. Being able to walk this time made it that much more fun. It was a bit disorganized but she had a blast and that's all that matters.

She couldn't seem to get enough pizza - even during the birthday song and then when it came to eat her cake she only wanted to use her pointer finger to eat. Too cute! She also kissed Chuck E's nose, had a great time riding in the Chuck E. car, and an even better time climbing all over the jungle gym. She's small, but she was very determined to climb it and did it all on her own with me right by her side just in case. As soon as she would climb to the top she would laugh and laugh. She was so proud of herself and it was great to see her have so much fun. All the running around chasing the balloons that we brought and climbing the gym wore her out though. She didn't fall asleep in the car but just before I got her out of her carseat, at home, I touched her head softly as she sucked her thumb and her eyes got heavy and tried to close. Two minutes later, she was in her bed and sound asleep.

The cake turned out perfect too. Ava loves anything to do with water or bathtime and animals, but lately has taken a liking to ducks so when I found this cake idea I knew she'd love it.

Thanks again to everyone that could make it!

We plan to have our own small party for Ava at home on her actual birthday this Wednesday with just mommy, daddy, little sis in the womb and our dog Kaila. That way we can do things the traditional way with just us and no distractions.

If you lived close enough you would've been doing the cake no doubt - I wouldn't have had it any other way! But since that was not an option, we had to settle for one by a local cake baker.
