4 Month Check Up

Ava had her four month check up today with Dr. Roberts and everything looks great! They are still surprised at how strong she is, especially in the legs and are very happy with her weight gain. She now weighs 14lbs. and is 25 1/2 inches long. That's between the 50th and 75th percentile for weight and close to the 90th percentile for height. Which boils down to - she's a healthy baby who happens to be taller than almost 90% of other four month olds.

We've been given the okay to try baby cereal whenever we're ready and then can slowly move on to fruits. The pediatrician said it's up to us because she's still getting all the nutrients she needs from breastmilk. I'm kind of excited to start cereal just for something new but at the same time am not looking forward to things possibly getting more complicated. We're in a good groove and she's getting all her nutrients so I'm not sure I want to rush it.

Ava also had another round of shots today. She was not a happy camper, but what baby would be after shots? It was close to nap time so she was fussy anyway and then they had to stick her with needles. She did good though and as soon as it was over started sucking her thumb to soothe herself and fell asleep in the car on the way to daycare.
