We took Ava to the Build-A-Bear workshop across the bay a weekend or so ago. Ava at first had a white bear with hints of blue in his fur...then she saw the cat. So of course we had to put the bear back and went with the cat.
She had a blast but was actually a little worried about her new cat at a few of the stations, saying "Kay? Kay?" asking if he was okay. She did not like him getting stuffed or taking an air bath...she actually screamed during his air bath so that lasted about 2 seconds and we quickly resorted to just brushing his hair. She didn't want to put the heart inside at first (right after it was stuffed) but finally agreed.
Air bath...
Ava saving her cat from the air bath and brushing him instead...
The last station was to give the bear (cat) a name, print out a birth certificate, etc. It was so adorable! We asked Ava what she wanted to call her cat and she said "catkey." We asked her again to make sure we had it right and she shook her head yes, grinned and said the name again. Now when she says it it's more like "khaki" but the birth certificate says "catkey" since that's how she originally said it. She LOVES this thing.
And, they give the child a "home" for their new friend too (a box they can color that looks like a house). Ava just had to carry the box that was of course too big for her. Such a cutie. We decided to wait on clothes for her cat (an entire warbrobe section is available) because we knew she'd take them off anyway. I guess we'll be going back to accessorize one day...
