Ava had her 15 month check-up and everything looks great! She's measuring 75th percentile for height (31.5 inches) and 25th percentile for weight (21.2 pounds). She's been holding her weight the same since just after her 12 month visit but Dr. Roberts says that's normal for her age and that she's "perfectly proportionate."
Ava did so well at her appointment! To curb her biting habit at daycare we started talking to her about how to be nice and gentle and had started to try to teach her that if she's upset she can "roar like a lion," then she learned to say "no" (it's evolved from 'bo" to "mo" with a finger point) so we're trying to use that to help her communicate to others if she doesn't like something. Back to "the lion"...so she loves "wide like a lion" so much we now use it to get her to brush her teeth while looking in the mirror at herself. She starts brushing, mommy takes over and she finishes. Well it turns out "wide like a lion" works for getting her to open her mouth for the doctor so they can look at her teeth and throat. Yeah!!
By the way, she got one shot and she was so mad she looked at that nurse like she was the devil! The good news is the next check up isn't until her birthday and then yearly after that. Just as we round out with one we begin with another.
