One-Year Check up

Ava had her one-year check up today and I'm proud to say we have one healthy little girl! Dr. Roberts was impressed with Ava to say the least, and even told me that many of the things she's doing are typical of a 14-17 month old. I've always heard that when you have children close together the first one advances quickly, but never thought much of it until now.

As far as stats: Ava is in the 75th percentile for height (30"), and the 25th percentile for weight (19lbs. 13 oz.). I asked if her weight was something to be concerned about and Dr. Roberts said "absolutely not, she's right where she needs to be." She's tall and lean which the pediatrician says equals "very healthy."

We can now officially switch to cow's milk...well except for the fact that Ava doesn't like it and won't drink it or formula from a sippy cup. Anything and everything else she will drink from a cup though. The pediatrician saw her with a bottle today and got to see first-hand how attached she is to them. She recommended we try mixing formula and milk for awhile so she can get used to the taste of milk. Gradually we add more milk than formula. We've been trying since her birthday to get her to drink milk from a cup, but it's not working.

Ava was such a big girl today too. Apparantly there is one shot that can be given to cover the three immunizations that Ava needed BUT last year something went wrong with the vaccine so there's a shortage and since it takes a year to grow it was not available to us here in Mobile...Ava had to have three shots. But she was excited to go to Mommy and Daddy's work afterward so the tears did not last long at all.
